Internet Home Business Owners, How Are You Converting Traffic ?

March 15th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Internet Home Business

As the owner of an Internet Home Business, I have been working hard at getting traffic to my site as well as blog, but as Lee pointed out a few days a go, that is only the first step. I recently wrote about the value of original content on your site, if you are the owner of an Internet Home Business, or two, like myself. Content is king and without it, how are we going to get the search engines to rank us etc etc. I think, its a chicken and the egg thing as well.

I realize that conversions are the ultimate key, but with no traffic, what is there to convert? I recently bought this site, and was suppose to get some sales with it, but the previous owners was devoid of ant morals and decency, and I was scammed, that aside for the moment, there was a start on some key word rankings. I have spend the last almost 3 months working on getting some content on the site and have been reasonably successful at it. As usual, there is the time issue, I only had time to do certain things.

I choose to not spend my time on re working the site for conversions, but spent it on key word SEO activity. My thought process was this, because it takes time for the engines to index content and then do what ever they do, that I should work on the key word content activities first, then work on the traffic, and then at the end, work on the site. If you own an Internet Home Business and have any ides on this topic, would love to hear your input. It seemed to make the most sense to get the content out there, let it peculate, and then work on the immediate activities next.

As Lee pointed out, you can have all the original content you want, and all of the traffic coming to your site, unless you convert, its all a waste of time, unless you are not looking to make money. That is not the case with myself, so I am left now to get the traffic and then convert. An expert that I am working with told me that in the beginning of the process to build an Internet Home Business, you should spend 80% of your time on traffic building activities and the other 20 % on the actual site. He also said that building the traffic with original content was one of the best ways to do it. I hope he is right!

I am using my blog as the source of that original content, at least on my site. I hope there is not a difference, in the eyes of the search engines, where the original content comes from and in what format it is. Who really knows what they use as their guidelines, all we have to do is take educated guesses and hope we get it right. As far as the keywords and the content is concerned, I have had some success, especially with one keyword that I have picked and worked on pretty hard. I am not sure if that sort of stuff is secret or not, so I will say, the word/ words  in question gets over 125,000 hits a month on the engines and I have managed to get to the number one spot for the last few weeks. Its a start.

Internet Home Business success is based on a lot of things, one of them is getting traffic to our sites. There are a lot of scammers and crooks out there promising you traffic through a variety of ways. If they could actually provide that traffic, they would be billionaires from all the customers they would be getting. There is just not  an easy way to get traffic, if there was, however had it, would certainly not tell your or I. I you want to be a successful Internet Home Business owner, you and I are going to have to do it the hard way, through hard work and dedication.

My Internet Home Business is SLOWLY taking off, and I believe I am doing it the right way, from the ground up and from a solid base. That base includes good original content plus paying attention to what the people who come to my site want, as well as a careful eye  on my keywords and the engines. More on this tomorrow, have a great day.

Internet Home Business Owner Lee’s Question, Continuation

March 14th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Internet Home Business

This is a continuation from yesterdays post, answering Internet Home Business owners Lee’s post about my keywords, some of them at number 1 spot on the search engines, how much money am I making, having original content and still not making money.

We all own an Internet Home Business, and we all have the same problems, we need traffic. One of the ways to get that traffic is to have original content on our web sites, get a higher ranking for our keywords, move up on the search engines pages and then get that elusive traffic. That is how the theory goes, this is my experience with that theory.

1. I made a really huge mistake when I started with my first Internet Home Business, believe it or not, I did not spend any time on my keywords, zero time. It’s hard to imagine now, a year  latter that I could be so stupid, but there it is. If nothing else, please DO NOT make the same mistake that I did, it was very costly. As far as the search engines were concerned, I did not exist for almost the first year I was suppose to be in business, trying to grow my Internet Home Business. To make matters worse, I have about 15 sites, some of them bought, yes, made the same mistake on all of them!

2. In my meager defense, I did spend that first year on producing a large quantity of original content, all of it keyword void, but still original content. In the long run, that content has and will benefit me and my sites, so that was not a total waste of time. This is Lee’s point, you can have original content on your site, and still not make money, very true indeed. As I learned, original content with no keywords is a waste of time, as far as the search engines are concerned.

3. Starting an Internet Home Business is a very time consuming process, especially when you factor in the time to build a new web site if that is where you are at. One of your key priorities at the beginning is spending the time required to research and pick your keywords, at the very beginning of that process. You should actually do it before anything gets started to be on the safe side. This is one area you should spend a few dollars, get some expert advice, make sure you do it right. On the other side of the coin, there is a ton of really good free tolls and aids on the Internet on this topic, with a little time and effort, you can get on board with this yourself.

4. Once you have your keywords, you can start to create everything for your Internet Home Business, web site , content, articles, advertising, blog, what ever you are going to do to get your name and brand out there, you can do properly now. In one sentence, what your keywords do for you is to give the search engines a way to find you, and then tell other people where to find you as well. Every time you do something in conjunction with your business, you will be creating a trail for the search engines to find you. The more trails, the more traffic. Please chip in with your definition of the relationship between us and the search engines.

5. A point I should make here, there is a good connection between original content, the search engines and frequency. A number of the search engines have gone on record as saying that if you have a regular stream of original content, you are more likely to have the search engines come on to your site to index it, on the same regular basis. Once again, having good original content is a waste, as far as the search engines are concerned, if they do not know it exists as well.

We have to remember that the SE’s are in business, just like us, their business is to give the best possible search results top their customers. The way they do that is to have the best, up to date, original content to offer to their customers, hopefully our future customers. If you are a supplier of original content, on a regular basis, the SE’s will like you, and come around to index you more often, than someone who may have content every 6 months. The SE’s go where there is material that will help them give their customers the best results.

Make your Internet Home Business a place that the search engines like to go for there fresh current consistent original content. That is the way to build a real business, that will be sustainable and profitable in the long run.   More tomorrow, have a great day.

Reply to Internet Home Business owner Lee on Original Content Post

March 13th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Internet Home Business

Hi,

I’m interested to know how much you are making (roughly), if some of your keywords are in #1 position as you are mentioned.

People keep come back to your blog by read all you GREAT articles everday, but it doesn’t means they will join any of your offer or buy any of your products, then at the end of the day you may still get ZERO income.

Original CONTENTS doesn’t always means $$$, if you can’t direct them into your buyers or subscribers.

After period of time, you don’t see any $$$ in your pocket and you will be burned out for writing everday for nothing, unless you are not looking for $$$, just enjoy writing itself.

Hello Lee, Thanks for the above comment. You raised some great points for the rest of us out here that own an Internet Home Business and are trying to make some money. The Internet Home Business you are referring to is this one, www.learn2earn2.com. Lets go through your post point by point. I am going to use this as a learning experience for myself, the points that I put out there will be answers as well as posing some questions, feel free to comment back and answer them for me.

First, ” how much money am I making for some of my key words that are number 1 in some search engines ” the answer is a very quick and emphatic ZERO !! Yes, nothing, I make not a cent from this site, this blog. My history for this site is, I bought it in mid December of last year, that’s 3 months ago. The previous owner, a person lacking any morals , scruples or decency, claimed the site was making between 250.00 to 500.00 a month, since taking the site over, have not made a red cent. However, along with the purchase, I did have some keywords on the search engines already started.

The keywords, as I am learning quickly are vital to the success of any Internet Home Business. No keywords, no page rank, no traffic. One of my goals when I bought this site, was to of course to make some money, but past that, I wanted to build the traffic and use some that traffic to send to another two sites that I own. www.powertimemanagementsystems.com and www.sitebizz.com My ” master plan ” was to take existing traffic from one site and move it around to the others and hopefully create some sales. That plan has taken a few hits. Time, is always an initial, even for some one who has made his living over the last 30 plus years dealing with it. I have taken some, time, pardon the pun, and re evaluated what I want to do with the number of sites that I have. In total, I have about 15 sites, I needed to chop that number down and focus on getting a few started properly, then move on. As the owner of an Internet Home Business, I need to focus on a smaller number of sites, and make them profitable, before I move on to others.

I have been sorting through them, and I believe I now have a manageable number to work with, 2 !! I am working on just this site, www.learn2earn2.com and www.powertimemanagementsystems.com. A big part of my plan is original content and working on my keywords. For the original content part, I am using my blogs. I hope that is a solid plan, any gaps in it, please let me know. If you own an Internet Home Business, I would like to hear how you are trying to build your business, any input would be appreciated.  I am using my strengths, and luckily for me, content is suppose to be king, and I have the ability to put out content. My goal is to put a post on my two blogs, on a daily basis. After a rocky start, I have a routine in place and I have been able to have 75 posts on this blog over the last 2 months and a bit, on target.

I realize we have two masters, dealing and working with our potential customers, and then the other master, the one that unless we please and make happy, we are sunk, the search engines. My blog is for both, my potential customers, and the search engines. Owning an Internet Home Business means that we have to please both our customers and the search engines to be successful, not an easy task at times. I will continue this post tomorrow. Have a great day.

If You Own an Internet Home Business and You Want to Grow, Build a relationship With the Search Engines

March 12th, 2010 | 1 Comment | Posted in Internet Home Business

You want to grow your Internet Home Business for the long haul and the way to do that is with your own information. There is  a great deal of information out there on ways to grow our sites, you have to be careful who you listen to and then what they tell you. I was, am a newbie when it comes to the specifics of building my own personal Internet Home Business, but I have the advantage of 30 plus years in the bricks and motor world which is helping me stay afloat. I am absolutely astounded  at the sheer volume of the scammers out there, in particular, the ones dealing with web site building, marketing and traffic driving ideas. They prey on the new people into the industry, and I am not sure why that is a surprise to me.

First and foremost, we, you, have to be aware of the relationship between building our own little Internet Home Business and the search engines. Without the search engines, we would be out in the cold. The traffic that we hope eventually will come to our sites, most of it will probably come from the search engines. This topic is a large one and I will only deal with it here in a basic fashion, will post on it as time goes on. For now, lets deal with the probability that almost all of your potential traffic will come from the search engines.

Based on this assumption, if you  want your Internet Home  Business to grow, you are going to have to cozy up to the search engines. Unless you get familiar with what it takes to build your business along the lines that meet with the search engines approval, you will find yourself on the outside, looking in. What I mean by that is this, if you are not developing your site along the guidelines that the search engines like, they will not know you exist and because of this fact, will not send you any traffic. We all know that no traffic, no Internet Home Business.

Lets explore the relationship we need to have , if we want to succeed, and that means, having a relationship with the search engines. First and foremost, the Internet is not what it was meant to be, the Internet is no longer free, no longer for everyone and it is certainly not a care free idyllic meeting place for the peoples of the world. It should have not surprised anyone that the Internet has been hijacked, taken over by big business, by marketers and advertisers, scammers and crooks, and yes, little guys like me and you.

Big bucks, big bucks is what has this element crawling out of the wood work every time. When ever something has the allure of big bucks, it seems to being out the worst in society, and the Internet has certainly done that in spades. Lets look at one small simple example. If you own an Internet Home Business, you need traffic to survive, traffic is our life line, no traffic, no business. On top of our desperate need for traffic is the double whammy that getting traffic is very difficult to get, difficult, time consuming and a very frustrating process to boot.

When you add that when someone first turns their web site live, its like opening the doors to a street side store, the anticipation, the adrenalin, you want the people, the traffic to just flood in. The reality of an Internet Home Business web site is this, when you turn your web site live, there is no rush, there is not crowd, there is absolutely nothing. Not only is there nothing, there can and will be nothing for some time, perhaps for ever. The estimate is that more than 95% of the web sites that open each year, fail within the first year. The reason, no traffic.

It is in this void that the traffic vultures appear. the ads are every where, for $ 19.95, they will send 20,000 visitors to your site, today !! For someone who has been sitting at their computer for months waiting for the traffic to appear, they will grasp at any straw, even a straw offered by these scamers. Needless to say, this kind of offer is just a scam to get your money, there will be no traffic, at least not human traffic, you are just throwing your money down the drain. We all all tried it at one time or another, even I succumbed. If by some miracle YOU have tried one of these sites and actually got some real people traffic, let me know about it and I will check it out and if it works, will happily put the link up on my sites.

Will continue this tomorrow. Any ideas on how to get traffic, as well as good SEO tips, drop me a comment.   Have a great day.

Content is King, If You Own an Internet Home Business

March 11th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Internet Home Business

Internet Home Business owners need to be able to create or get original content, if they hope to make a go of it. I have found out, as an owner of an Internet Home Business, that original content, articles, on my site is the only sure way to get traffic, keep it as well as gain favor with the search engines. One of the reasons I like the personal content is that is serves a number of purposes, all at the same time. Here is a site that has original content, something for the web browser as well as the search engines, www.powertimemanagementsystems.com

1. Producing your own content is scam free. As usual, there are a number of different takes on the value of original content coming from the experts. The reason for the conflict and different opinions stems from the search engines not telling us how they value articles and original content as it pertains to page rank and general SEO activities. The search engines explanation for keeping how they rank websites secrect is this, if we, Internet Home Business owners knew how they rank our web sites, all we would do is make the sites conform to their criteria and then where would we be, all tied for top spot?

I can see the search engines dilemma, what they want and what we want are opposite, to some degree. What the search engines want is to give their customers the best possible search results, what you and I want, with our Internet Home Business interests, is to rank on the first page, in the number spot when some one puts in our keywords. What we are left with is this scenario, we are left to try to guess and figure out what we can do to operate a great Internet Home Business, do what is best for our customers, and at the same time, build and operate a site that will get us to the top of the search engines.

Ask any 100 experts  what we should to do get a top spot in the search engines, and you will get about 80 to 90 different top 3 things to do. There will however, be an answer that is fairly   common among almost all of the experts and that answer is, put up original content on your site. Original content is something that the search engines like because it is almost non coruptable. It is pretty tough to fake or scam something that is so exact as personal content.

I would like to deal with the scam element here, because it is so prevalent on the Internet. As an owner of an Internet Home Business, I am really tired  of trying to build my business in an honest fashion and have to compete with the scamers and the crooks. In regards to original content, there is at  least a glimmer of hope that the real deal for once will prevail. If any one of us takes the time to write an original article and put it up on our sites, we will at least get credit for it and no one else. Unlike other elements of SEO, like link building, keyword stuffing, which have all been corrupted, original content still remains an area that is relatively clean.

I should point out that there is a distinction between original content and original content that has already been published somewhere else. If you are not able, or do not want to take the time to produce your own personal content, and you purchase material that was produced by someone else, you must be very sure that this material has not been published some where else on the Internet. If it has appeared somewhere else, then the value to you for SEO purposes is now zero. It is my understanding, that material published somewhere else on the Internet, now makes this same material on your site, duplicate content and means nothing in the eyes of the search engines.

If you have additional info on this topic, please contact me, I have heard differing opinions on this and would like to see if I can find a consensus on this. The same situation applies to getting a free article from one of the article directories and putting that article up on your site, may be good for your customers, but zero in value to the search engines and SEO purposes for you.

Some thoughts on content for you if you own an Internet Home Business. Have a great day, see you tomorrow.

More on Converting Traffic for an Internet Home Business

March 10th, 2010 | 1 Comment | Posted in Internet Home Business

There seems to be some interest on this topic for people with an Internet Home Business, so I will continue where I left off yesterday. Content is king and if you hope to have a successful Internet Home Business, you need to have a site that has people coming back, to do this, you need to give them a reason. As mentioned, 95% of the sites out there, have less than 5 pages of content, this is just not going to get you repeat visitors.

You really only have two directions to go here, produce the content yourself, or buy it. Before we go into these two choices, we need to discuss the issue of originality. The search engines, yes , we have to deal with them, are interested, no, lets say, they are concerned about original content. Lets  look at this issue from their perspective for a moment. What the search engines want is to be able to give their customers, you and me, the best possible search results. When we plug in a search request, what the  search engine wants to do is give us the most updated, ORIGINAL content possible. If you want to have a successful Internet Home Business, you web site must have original content on it.

What they do not want to do is to send us to a site, that has the same content as hundreds of other sites out there. To prevent this, and this is up for debate, they sort the web sites by the originality of the content, among the other criteria they use, the sites with the most original content, get ranked the highest. What does this mean to you, the owner of a little Internet Home Business? It means that what ever you put up on your site, it better be original. If it is not, you are basically wasting your time, as far as the search engines are concerned.

Google has publicly stated that they do not ” penalize ” you, us, for putting up already published material, they just do not give you any credit for it. They put this already published material in a supplementary index, basically ignoring it and giving you no value for it.

What further clouds the issue is all of the search engines keep their algorithms private, this is the way they rank pages, give them page rank. If we all knew exactly how they ranked the pages on their engines, all we would do, owners of an Internet Home Business, we would just set up our sites according to their methods and then where would we all be, tied for top spot on the search engines. With the exact methods a secret, we are all left with educated guesses as to what we need to do to get ranked high on the search engines.

Which brings us, in a round about way, to original content on our web sites. The ” experts ” seem to be in agreement on this issue, the BEST way to get increased page ranking on the search engines is by having original content on your Internet Home Business web site. With increased page rank, comes traffic and when the traffic comes, what will they see, yes, your original content and this will hopefully have them stay, and then come back. Original content serves multiple purposes, its great for the search engines, its great for the traffic and it ends up being great for us.

The definition of original content can be a little cloudy, the way to avoid this issue is to simply produce the content yourself, removing all doubt. I will have more on this tomorrow, have a great day.

Ideas For an Internet Home Business on How to Convert Traffic to Sales

March 9th, 2010 | 1 Comment | Posted in Internet Home Business

I received a post yesterday from an owner of an Internet Home Business, his question was did I have any ideas on converting traffic to sales. He rightly commented that getting traffic to our sites was only half the battle, we then had to convert the traffic to paying customers. It is a real eye opener when you realize that just having a site and owning an Internet Home Business is really barely a start, the real battle is getting the traffic and then trying to get them to convert.

For starters, I am assuming that if you have a site, an Internet Home Business, that your goal is to make money. There are other reasons to have a site, and if your goals are different, then that is your choice. Regardless of the reason for your site, you do want to have the people who visit your site to do something, sign up for a newsletter, be part of some movement, participate in some fashion. I will call all of these actions, including monetary ones, conversions for now.

The first thing we all have to realize that it is very uncommon for someone to visit your site, and right off the bat, do what you want them to do, very rare. Keeping this in mind, lets start with this basic premise, you have to have a clear idea what you want people visiting your site to do. It sounds basic, but most sites are not very clear on telling and directing visitors to their site what you want them to do. Here is a tip, you want to have one clear directive in mind when it comes to your traffic. you may have a number of options for them, but you need to have a focus, a number one task you want visitors to do , when they visit you for the first time.

If your Internet Home Business deals with selling skin care products, that is the final step in the process, you need to have a way for your visitors to get their. The first step, getting their email address. The dreaded list. I say dreaded list is because everyone who visits a site, knows that there are going to be a number of ways that , you and I want to get their email address, so we can in the future, send them a sales pitch. Its a fact of life on the Internet. If you are not collecting the emails of the people visiting your site, your Internet Home Business will fail, and fail spectacularly. Here are a just a few ways to collect emails for your mail in list.

This is a huge topic, one that I will be posting on for a few days.  Before I deal with the ways to collect emails, I need to touch on this topic for a moment. We are talking about converting traffic and I must bring this up. We, you and I, are going to be spending a great deal of our time on traffic driving activities to get people to our Internet Home Business sites, right? We can never forget that there has to be something there for them to look at when they get there. Not only to look at, but a good reason for them to come back, again and again. The more reasons for them to come back, the greater number of times we have for them to make a purchase, or to get them to do what ever action we want them to do.

Anything we do on the Internet is a numbers game. We need a percentage of the over all traffic on the Internet to visit our sites, then we need a percentage of that percentage, to do what we want them to do on our site, to be successful. For all of this to happen, we need to be sure, that we have a site that will stand out, amongst the millions of other sites out there. That is a scary thought. Depending on the niche that your site is in, there will be thousands and thousands of other sites out there, competing for the same traffic you want. It stands to reason that your Internet Home Business better be ready for that traffic when it comes.

It may seem that I have gotten off target a bit, but I have not. Converting traffic is all about getting them back as often as possible, the more times they come back to your site, the greater the possibility that they will take the action that you want them to take.  More on this tomorrow.  Have a great day.

Internet Home Business , Tip of the Week, March 8th, 2010

March 8th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Internet Home Business

I own an Internet Home Business, and I have a bit of a breakthrough to share with you. I have managed to get to the number 1  spot of big G, for  a very competitive key word, Internet Home Business. That key word gets 135,000 hits a month, which means the competition for that key word is pretty tough. If you own an Internet Home Business, here are some tips on how I did it.

  1. Keywords.  Sounds strange, but I made this mistake, believe it or not. I started my Internet Home Business, and never spent any time on the keywords. Yes, I should be in the hall of shame, as the dumbest owner of an Internet Home Business, but I did not spend anytime on keyword selection for at least 6 months, maybe even longer. When  we start our businesses, there are at least 1,ooo things to do, and we only have two hands and so many hours in a day. The choices we make are crucial to our success, take a look here on help on making the right choices, www.powertimemanagementsystems.com.

Do not make the same mistake I made in regards to keyword selection. You need to have a selection of keywords that you are going to build on, as you build your Internet Home Business. EVERYTHING you do, hinges on getting those keywords embedded on everything you have and do. On your site, in your name, in your articles, the content of your site, the coding and titles on your site, EVERYTHING. I am clearly not an expert on properly selecting and using keywords, the Internet is loaded with great free info on this subject, go out there and start there.

If you are starting an Internet Home Business, you have to spend some time, as much time as you need to, to get a really firm grip on this topic. Who ever is working with you on getting started, getting your site put up, make sure they are well versed in this topic, if not, look around till you find someone you feel comfortable with. Part of this comfort zone is you getting just a sketch of what keywords is about and then matching yourself up with a person who is on the same page as you. This is one area that you do not want to scrimp on, its crucial that you get solid, up to date advice on this topic.

   2. It’s work, pure and simple. I got to the number one spot on Google for a key word that has over 112,000,000 inquires, some browsers say, over 250,000,000, and I did it the old fashion real way, I worked at it. First of all, my skills and knowledge on the Internet, the technical side of it, are poor. I struggle with the navigation part, the technical part, the basics, all of the simple day to day things that almost all of you take for granted, I struggle with. Despite that handicap, I did persevere.

What was important, was having a plan and working that plan. I took my strengths and then put those strengths to the best possible use. I knew that the search engines liked original content, and lucky for me, that is my strength. I am a writer, among other things, I can produce original content on a regular basis and the content is actually pretty good : ) Part of my plan was to create original content on a regular basis, daily in fact, on my blog, this one in fact. Even with my limited computer skills, I have been able to post daily, at least 500 to 700 words, per post, per day. If you own an Internet Home Business, and you are able to write, my advice is that is where you  should invest some of your time daily.

Nothing reinforces a goal more , than to see positive results come from putting that goal into play, making it happen and turning that goal, from a dream, to a reality. More on this topic tomorrow. Have a great day.

I have received quite a few emails from people who own an Internet Home Business regarding article marketing. We all are in the same boat, looking  for that elusive traffic. When it comes to generating traffic, there are really only two camps, one camp tells the truth without any financial gain to be made, the other camp says what ever they think will get us, owners of  an Internet Home Business, to buy their products. The sad part is this, 99% of the people out their selling traffic driving and generating services and products are crooks and scammers. If by chance you have a service or product that can really get legitimate, organic traffic to a person who owns an Internet Home Business, PLEASE contact me and I will try it out and if it works, I will prominently display your product or device on ALL of my sites.

I am doing this as much for myself as well as the people who visit my sites. I am in the same boat as all the rest of us, the frantic search for traffic.  When I thought that an Internet Home Business would be a good way to go, I was unaware that the traffic situation would be as difficult to over come as it has been, at least that is what I am finding. What about you ? I was mesmerized with the thought that if I got just a tiny tiny piece of the huge market on the Internet, that I would be set. I think, after talking to some of you, that what I thought was a common theme, if we could just get a tiny piece of a huge pie, we all would be laughing. Sound familiar?

Back to article marketing and the huge industry that has sprung up on this topic. For a moment. lets forget the value to an Internet Home Business and its site, of having original content on it, lets just look at the articles we have and the impact on the traffic need we all have. If by chance you have all the traffic you can handle, feel free to post here with your ideas, would be most appreciated.

1. Article marketing does not flood your web site with traffic.  Forget article marketing as a way to get traffic to your site. It simply is a fallacy made up by the article marketing industry to scam you out of money, period. It sounds logical, sounds nice, but it does not work. I am not part of the article marketing industry, I do not make money from lying to you, what I am saying is fact, backed up by my personal experiences, as well as the many many people I have spoken to about this topic. If you are looking for a way to get traffic to your web site, DO NOT invest time, money and energy in this activity.

2. Article marketing is questionable in regards to building back links to your Internet Home Business. This one is a bit tricky. Depending where you submit your article, you COULD get a back link to your site. The key word is could. We have to remember that a back link is only of value you if someone actually clicks on it. Submitting an article is only the first step, in a long process to getting someone back to your site. I will say this, the ONLY method of article submissions that seems to be of any value, are the ones that you physically do yourself. Using a article submission service, or worse of all, those terrible software programs out there, do not get the job done. I have used them, as well as thousands of others, and if they worked, as promised, we all would have all of the traffic we could handle. As you can guess, that is not the case .

This post was more of a warning than anything else. If your own an Internet Home Business, and you want traffic, you best not expect to get it from article marketing . If you have a different view, or comments on this, please let me know.  Have a great day, see you tomorrow.

Article Marketing, Owning an Internet Home Business, the REAL Goods on This Mis Understood Topic

March 6th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Internet Home Businesses

If you own an Internet Home Business, or your thinking about getting one, you are going to go heads up with this topic. As previously posted here in the last few days, getting traffic to our sites is a major hurdle, hassle, problem all Internet Home Business owners face. If you do not have this problem, of getting traffic to your site, PLEASE contact me with your secret :)   First and foremost, this information here is free and I do not gain in any way or fashion by giving out this information. That is the first step in understanding the article submission, traffic driving connection, you must always know who you are talking too and whether that person will financially benefit from what he or she tells you.

Lets lets look at the outright lie that article submission companies, software, program sellers, outsources and the like tell you about article writing.

If you write articles and then submit those articles, the result will be ” massive ” traffic to your site.

This is an out right lie, a massive scam and one that wastes the valuable time, money and resources of hundreds of thousands of people who own an Internet Home Business. I include myself in this group. These scammers prey on the desperation of people who set up an Internet Home Business, and then find themselves in the position of no traffic, and then no sales. There is really two issues at play here, writing articles, and then what to do with them once you have written.

First, article writing. Articles, if they are original and you have written them, are great, as long as you know how to use them and realize the limitations of them. Original articles you have written, put up on your site, serve a number of uses. First and foremost, search engines like original content and if that content is on your site, you will, eventually get some benefit from the search engines. If you have the right key words and the right density, over time these articles will be indexed and your Page Rank will rise and hopefully, over time, you will get more organic traffic.

If you embark on the course of writing articles, you must do so with the first and foremost objective that you want to use your articles as a way to build up your own site, get more original content on your site, and finally, realize that your original content will do you the most good, on your own site. If you listen to the other people out there, the ones that have something to gain from you financially in regards to you writing articles, then you are in for a rude shock.

The scam out there is this, write articles, pay me to do something with your articles, namely submit them to other sites and sources, and then watch the avalanche of traffic to your site. Do not buy into this myth, it simply does not happen. There is a multi million dollar industry out there that makes it money off people who own an Internet Home Business and have to have traffic to survive. there are thousands of new Internet Home Business owners coming onto the Internet daily, they all need this elusive traffic. They are all prime victims of the scammers who say, write a few articles, let me submit them, for a fee, and then watch the traffic come. You write your article, you pay your fee, but the traffic never comes.

If you go to one of my sites, www.powertimemanagementsystems.com, you will see about 60 original articles. In my early days, when I knew no better, I submitted those articles to the scammers. I was suppose to get massive traffic to my site, that was 9 months ago. Ask me how much traffic all of that work produced, the answer, out of 100, maybe, one or two visitors. The problem you have is this, if you submit your original articles to the scammers, you then will not get full benefit from the search engines because your original work on your site, is now not considered original, because it appears some where else. How is that for getting caught between a rock and a hard place.

One last word, for now on this topic. To muddy the water even further, the rules about article marketing, submissions, search engines, original content, the whole ball of wax, the rules are never ever clearly outline to us poor souls who own an Internet Home Business. More about why, tomorrow.  Have a great day.
