New Internet Home Business Owners and Affiliate Marketers, Not a Good Mix

March 21st, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Internet Home Business

I own an Internet Home Business, like the people who read this blog, and this topic has gotten me more response than any other up to this point. There have been  some people who are not really happy with my position, to those people, thanks for the same 800 post with the ” f  “word in it, nice touch. To the  Internet Home Business owners, especially the people thinking of getting into the game, I hope these posts have been beneficial. There are a few questions that I have been asked, here are the answers. As always, I suggest you do a little research and get other opinions on this topic.

My position is based on my experiences, as well as the feed back I have gotten from other people in the same situation, just starting  an Internet Home Business, either have some Affiliate programs on their sites or are looking at the possibility of adding some. I have also done my research, gotten confirmation back from people who have gone both routes, Affiliate Marketing from the get go, and those that have done it as part of their existing web site.

1. There are two ways to get into Affiliate Marketing, yes the right way and the wrong way, that aside for a moment. the two ways are, strictly as an exclusive AM,  or as someone who already has a Internet Home Business with a product of their own and wants to take advantage of their already existing traffic. There you have it, the wrong way and the right way.

The right way, is to ADD AM to your already existing web site, the risk and the cost to you s minimal. If you already have a web  site, then you are already in business, you have already made the commitment for the site, marketing, etc. Adding an AM  product, or two, is not really an issue for you. Traffic is always the issue, when ever you talk about e commerce and making money, the next words out of your mouth should be, where is the traffic now, and where is the future traffic   going to come from.

This is always my beef with the AM owners, the claims they make about potential profits are worthless, unless they can get traffic to YOUR site, no traffic , no one , especially you, makes any money. This part, the traffic part is always conspicuously missing from their presentations. It’s as if this part of the equation is not important.

2. The wrong way to get into AM is to start an Internet Home Business with the only product your are going to offer is an AM product. The incubation period for a brand new site is long, very long when you are waiting for sales to materialize. It is one thing to start a site with you having a product or service you want to sell, its another to have some one else s product for sale. You have to keep in mind, if its an AM product, there could easily be 100″s , if not 1,000″s of other sites out there with exactly the same product you are offering.

This situation of competing with hundreds or thousands of other sites with the same product, makes getting any kind of organic traffic from the search engines next to impossible. At least with starting with your own product, you have a chance to have original content on your site, making it easier  to get some Page rank and organic traffic.

Quick summary, if you are an new Internet Home Business owner, starting your business off with the sole purpose of being an AM,  is a very bad idea.  Ask around, make sure you get the opinion of people who have tried the AM route, as new Internet Home Business owners and see what they have experienced. You need to get the unbiased opinion of people who have nothing to gain financially from you , like me, this is when you will get the truth.

If you have an existing site, already up, built and getting traffic, take a shot, you have nothing to lose. Have a great day, see you tomorrow.

I Must Of Hit a Nerve With Internet Home Business Owners and Affiliate Marketers

March 20th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Internet Home Business

My last few posts have dealt with Affiliate Marketing and people who own an Internet Home Business.  My goal was  to present an alternative view to Internet Home Business owners, a view that was  unbiased and one that I would not benefit from, either way. The response was swift and some what furious. It could be divided into two camps, responses from people who do own an Internet Home Business, and those that have something to gain from these Internet Home Business owners signing up in droves to be Affiliate Marketers. Here is the breakdown.

My comments were directed at people who are either very new, or are thinking about opening up an Internet Home Business and are doing so with the sole purpose of being an Affiliate Marketer, selling some one else s products. These people were genuinely surprised that what I was saying, compared to the other side of the discussion, the claims of the owners of the products, the people that have all to gain from this exercise. Here is a further breakdown of my comments and my position, as an explanation to the people who responded.

1. Opening up an new Internet Home Business site, and doing so to sell some one else s  products, be an Affiliate Marketer is not a good idea. Your chances of success are far less than 1 %, that is a fact that is borne out all across the Internet, on sites and from sources that have nothing to gain from saying so. The reasons for this dismal success rate is clear, new sites do not have traffic, no traffic , no sales, that is a cruel fact of life on the Internet, something every new Internet Home Business owners needs to realize.

I am learning this fact, right now, the hard way. I have about 10 web sites, they all have the same problem, no traffic, and as a result, no sales. If I knew what I know now, a year and a bit ago, I would have done things entirely differently. I would of built one site, properly, and would of gotten traffic to it in order to see if what I had was of any value, then I would of added the other sites. I can not change my history, but I can at least save other new Internet Home Business owners from the same fate.

When you add into the mix that most new sites are being built to be Affiliate Market sites, that just makes the situation worse for the new people.

2. Building a new site, from the ground up, is a long slow process, even for the really experienced  people. When you add a new person to the mix, building a new Internet Home Business from scratch is a daunting task. Once again, if I had known this fact a year ago, once again, I would of done things differently. I would of positively gone into this on a part time basis, I would of done this to allow the things that take time on the Internet to happen, such as building Page Rank, key word rankings, SEO activities, link building, brand awareness, blogging, getting the word out, letting the site get known, all of these activities take time and can not be rushed.

If anyone tells you that they can get you to the top of Google in 7 days, run the other way. They are either outright lying to you, or they are using illegal Black Hat techniques and will just get you banned , and then you are permanently banned and  out of business. Someone told me a long time ago that if you want to do business on the Internet, you better buy yourself a pair of cement shoes, because you are going to be stepping on a lot of land mines out there. He was very accurate in his description of the dangers of doing business on the Internet.

A quick summary. Affiliate Marketing is everywhere, everyone is talking about it, most everyone is touting it, it is THE business that most people suggest you get into to start your own Internet Home Business, why all of this hype.  EASY  a small percentage of the people doing all of the hype, are making a fortune, the rest of the people are making zero. This is the story of the Internet, less than 1% of the people make the money, the other 99% of the people end up paying for it in one fashion or another.  Be careful out there, have a great day, see you tomorrow.

Comments from Internet Home Business Owners about Affiliate Marketing

March 19th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Internet Home Business

There are millions of people out there who own an Internet Home Business, and my post yesterday hit an nerve with some of them. The people who started their first Internet Home Business and decided to listen to the ads and the hype, almost all of them agreed with me, no traffic, no business. The statics is, if you start a new Internet Home Business, by the end of your first year, less than 5 of you will still be business. A large part of these failures can be attributed to the fact that most new Internet Home Businesses start out in Affiliate Marketing.

What makes Affiliate Marketing such a draw is the claim that you can be up and running in minutes, literally. That should be a tip off to you, any Internet Home Business that claims it can be up and running almost instantly, that should be a warning to you. The Internet, especially the Internet,  has a very long incubation period, there are things that need time to get functioning properly, if anyone says differently, all they want is your money.

Among the things that need to get done to start a real business as well as giving you a chance at being successful in Affiliate Marketing are, getting your site indexed, getting some sort of page rank, getting your keywords ranked, and most of all, getting some traffic. To do all of these tasks properly, and within the rules, the time frame could easily be up to 6 months or more. I have nothing to gain by telling this, this is not some sales pitch for a secret software program that I have to enable you to do all of this in a day, my only purpose in telling you is, that if you are thinking about starting an Internet Home Business, Affiliate Marketing is  not the way you want to go.

Yes, there were people who wanted to post and said that they were doing really well, but as we all know, they all wanted to have a link back to their site , and yes, that link was advertising their Affiliate products. Do I think that there are people out there , who have an Internet Home Business and a web site, that are making money from Affiliate Marketing?, yes there are, here is there story.

First and foremost, if they are making money, it will be one or two out of a 100, that is tops. The failure rate of new sites on the web is horrendously high, take your pick from anywhere from 95% up wards to 98 %. Why so high, its the double whammy of the indexing, page rank and then traffic. All these activities take time, despite the claims to the contrary. As in almost all of the claims that are made on the Internet, the person who is making the claims, has some monetary gain to be made from making the claim, a sad commentary on the Internet, but one that is true.

For the very very few that are making money and actually have an Internet Home Business that is a business, ie making money, the reason they are is that most likely they have a mature site and already had traffic coming to it. This is the set of circumstances that you need to have in order to have any chance of making it in Affiliate Marketing. If you ALREADY have a site that is up and running, and you already have traffic, then there are  some valid reasons you may want to have some Affiliate products available on your site. There is a huge difference between adding Affiliate products to an existing site and starting a new Internet Home Business with Affiliate products as your only source to generate income.

Remember, I do not make money from this post, I am not offering you any products, my reason for offering you this opinion is to save you time, money and grief and hopefully have you avoid Affiliate Marketing if you are thinking about starting a new Internet Home Business. Some food for thought, have a great day, see you tomorrow.

The Internet Home Business Tip of the Week, Affiliate Programes, Who Really Benifits?

March 18th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Internet Home Business

It seems that the number one Business for people who want to own an Internet Home Business is becoming an Affiliate for some one else. This means that your Internet Home Business does not really have anytime to sell, you are selling the products  that some one else owns, you are basically a middle man. I have a great deal of problem with this, and here is why.

The hype about Affiliate Marketing is huge, it’s every where, the ads, the video’s, the web sites, they all say that if you want to own an Internet Home Business, the way to go is, Affiliate Marketing. One thing that you should always remember about the Internet, when ever a lot of people are saying the same thing, its almost always because they are making money from it. This is the case with Affiliate Marketing. There are a very very small number of people who are making huge piles of money, and the other 99.9% of the people are making nothing from it.

First of all, I just bought this site, about 3 months ago and I am in the process of changing it around. One of the first things I did, was remove most of the Affiliate Marketing programs from it. Most of the programs focused on first time people who wanted  to own an Internet Home Business, these people are the most vulnerable and the ones who have the most to lose, if they think that Affiliate Marketing is the way to go, it is not. Here is one major reason that if you are just starting out with your first site, that you are going to lose big time with any Affiliate Marketing program.

Traffic. Traffic is the most elusive commodity on the Internet, if you do not have it, you simple do not exist. This is the one area that these so called Affiliate Programs do not tell you about when you sign up to their programs, where the heck is the traffic going to come from? It is one thing to say that you will make thousands of dollars, but that is only possible if people come to your site, no traffic, no sales. If you own an Internet Home Business and you want to get into Affiliate Marketing, you need to have a source of traffic to make the business work.

The value to the owners of the Affiliate Programs to have thousands of people sign up for their programs is that even if you, the owner of an Internet Home Business, decide to participate, it costs the owner nothing if you get no sales, he has nothing to lose, you have everything to lose. You spend your time, you set up the site, you do all the work, and then you hope some body comes to your site, clicks on to the Affiliate button, goes to the owner site, and buys the product. It’s a long process, all based on you getting a site up and running, and then getting the traffic to make it work.

Affiliate Marketing benefits the owners of the programs, first and foremost, after that, the decline in value drops to almost nothing for the rest of the participants. If you are thinking of owning an Internet Home Business, and you think that Affiliate Marketing is the way to go, ask yourself this question, where is the traffic going to come from, who is going to come to my site, to buy these products? Better yet, ask the Affiliate Marketer who is telling you all these wonderful things about his or her program, ask them where the traffic is going to come from .

Traffic drives the commerce on the Internet, the sites that have the traffic, have the commerce, it is as simple as that. When ever you are thinking of getting involved in an Internet Home Business of any kind, you have to know where the traffic is going to come from. That is the very first question you need to ask.

One last point and this is something that you can always rely on, who ever is telling you something on the Internet, if they are going to benefit in any way, financially, be wary of what they say. There are always lots  of free unbiased sources on the Internet, where you can find the real goods on things you want to know.  Have a great day, see you tomorrow.

A Little Bit Goes a Long Way For An Internet Home Business

March 17th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Internet Home Business

If you own an Internet Home Business, this is an example of how just a little bit of the right activity can go a long way. The secret of success for an Internet Home Business is getting traffic, and getting your keywords ranked as high as possible. As some of you know, when I started my business, I made the mistake of not spending the time on picking key words and setting up my web site and content accordingly. Not only did I basically waste almost a year of my time, I also lost the aging process that the search engines like so much.

An Internet Home Business is like a fine wine, it gets better with age. There is a lot to know about search engines and how they work, among the things they like is age, the longer an Internet Home Business has been around, the better they like it. The funny thing is, you do not have to do anything, all you have to do is have a web site, properly set up, and over time, your page rank will increase just because you are there. Do not confuse this with properly building and developing your business, the point I am making is that stability and history is important to the engines.

Just a tip, when you register your web site name, register it for at least 2 years, the engines like to see that you are planning to be around for awhile. They will actually penalize you if you only register for less than a year, and when you get down to having to register your name before it expires, they really do not like that.

I recently started to work on an Internet Home Business of mine that I had set up about 6 months ago, and then stopped working on it for a while. I spent the time to set up the site, as well as putting up about 30 pages of content, and about 20 original articles. I also had set up a blog, and made about 15 posts. After that, I left it totally alone for almost 6 months. I then started to work on it again and found out that it had a page rank of 2!! This is not great, but it sure beats a zero or a one.

I learned two valuable lessons with this web site. The first one is this, if you are going to take the time to set up an Internet Home Business, as well as a web site, take the little bit of extra time it will take, and set it up to take advantage of the time it will exist, whether you work it or not, the clock is still ticking. This clock is important to the engines and if you have taken the time to set up your business properly, with some content, some pages and some original material, the search engines will look at you  favorably. If I had not taken the time when I set up my site, with the content and the blog posts, I would of wasted the 6 month aging process.

I also learned that if I had not totally abandoned the site, and had spent even an hour or two a week on posting on the blog or putting up a page or two of original content, I would of gotten  even more value for the time the site was up. The statistics about sites is really scary. Over 98 % of new Internet Home Business web sites, have less than 5 pages on them, that is 5 pages in total. That means to get into the top 2 % of all web sites, all you need is more than 5 pages of content on your total site. When you look at it  this way, who can not put together a site that has more than 5 pages of content on it ?

Another interesting fact about new businesses on the Internet. Less than 1 % of new Internet Home Business web sites are in business past the first year. What this means to the rest of us, all we have to do is survive our first year, then we end up in the top  1% percent of all of the web sites out there. The bad news is, that still means we have to compete with millions of web sites that have been around past the first year of their existence.

What seems to be important  to us, owners of an Internet Home Business, is that regular, consistent additions to our sites are the keys to our success. Have a great day, see you tomorrow.

Being an Internet Home Business Owner Who Blogs, Is It the Way to Build a Business?

March 16th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Internet Home Business

I own an Internet Home Business and I am like most people who read this, I am struggling to build that business into something. If you are not struggling, drop me a line and let me know your secret:) A successful Internet Home Business needs, among other things, traffic that converts. One of the ways to build that traffic, is supposedly, start blogging and the traffic will just flow into your site. Here is my take on that tactic.

1. This blog is attached to my Internet Home Business, www.learn2earn2.com. I will start there. For those people out there who have more experience on the Internet than I do, maybe my set up is faulty. I want people to read my blog, find that the information is of some value and continue to read and eventually go to my site, and see something they like and presto, I am making a million dollars.  Kidding aside, I have picked having a blog as one of my key priorities for my site. I think there is a difference between making your blog your priority and having a blog as one of the ways to build your Internet Home Business.

2. There are people who have a blog and that blog is their Internet Home Business. There is no ” other ” site, like in my case, their blog is their site, all rolled into one. We have all heard of them, the bloggers that get hundreds of thousands of hits, and they are able to monetize their blog/site and they are very successful. That is great for the .0001 of the blogs out there, what about the rest of us? The Internet is notorious for using a minuscule sample of successful people, and then trying to extrapolate that group as an example for the millions of others out there trying to do the same thing.

To be honest, trying to be like the minuscule group that have monster blogs, is like trying to capture lightening in a bottle. I believe, you and me, and the hundreds of  thousands others that have a small Internet Home Business, we need to look at blogging in a different more realistic light. Take my blog, I have posted 81 times in the last 3 months, what traffic have I experienced? If I take out the spam, the foreign posts, the porn posts, the bot and mechanical posts, I think I have had one real post. That is a lot of work for one , maybe, real visitor.

There is however the theory that for every real post, there are 100 people who are reading you, but never post or comment. From my perspective, I am posting on this blog for a number of reasons, and I think that is the way to go. If you post for only one reason, to get traffic, I believe you are going to be very disappointed in your results. If you have any additional information on blogging and traffic that I am missing, please feel to jump right in.

3. I post on my blog for 3 reasons. SEO, potential customers, original content, ideas and content for other end results, future articles, maybe back links, and maybe, way down the road, some traffic. I guess that is more than 3 reasons, but you get the point. If all that I was blogging for was to get traffic, I would of quit a long time ago. Something that I have not mentioned is this, what is the time frame one should have to wait, for this flood of traffic to come to my Internet Home Business site? As the Master says, I have to be patient, not one of my strong suites.

How long should some one wait for traffic to come from a blog? A week , a month, a year?, that is the real question. If you are a new Internet Home Business owner, one thing you have to know, nothing happens very quickly on the Internet, nothing good anyway. For now, I will leave you with this thought. I have mentioned in the last week, about the value of original content on your site, this is a concept that pretty well all the experts agree is invaluable to your Internet Home Business. Blogging is a quick, easy, efficient way to get that original content onto your web site.

More on this tomorrow, have a great day.

Internet Home Business Owners, How Are You Converting Traffic ?

March 15th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Internet Home Business

As the owner of an Internet Home Business, I have been working hard at getting traffic to my site as well as blog, but as Lee pointed out a few days a go, that is only the first step. I recently wrote about the value of original content on your site, if you are the owner of an Internet Home Business, or two, like myself. Content is king and without it, how are we going to get the search engines to rank us etc etc. I think, its a chicken and the egg thing as well.

I realize that conversions are the ultimate key, but with no traffic, what is there to convert? I recently bought this site, and was suppose to get some sales with it, but the previous owners was devoid of ant morals and decency, and I was scammed, that aside for the moment, there was a start on some key word rankings. I have spend the last almost 3 months working on getting some content on the site and have been reasonably successful at it. As usual, there is the time issue, I only had time to do certain things.

I choose to not spend my time on re working the site for conversions, but spent it on key word SEO activity. My thought process was this, because it takes time for the engines to index content and then do what ever they do, that I should work on the key word content activities first, then work on the traffic, and then at the end, work on the site. If you own an Internet Home Business and have any ides on this topic, would love to hear your input. It seemed to make the most sense to get the content out there, let it peculate, and then work on the immediate activities next.

As Lee pointed out, you can have all the original content you want, and all of the traffic coming to your site, unless you convert, its all a waste of time, unless you are not looking to make money. That is not the case with myself, so I am left now to get the traffic and then convert. An expert that I am working with told me that in the beginning of the process to build an Internet Home Business, you should spend 80% of your time on traffic building activities and the other 20 % on the actual site. He also said that building the traffic with original content was one of the best ways to do it. I hope he is right!

I am using my blog as the source of that original content, at least on my site. I hope there is not a difference, in the eyes of the search engines, where the original content comes from and in what format it is. Who really knows what they use as their guidelines, all we have to do is take educated guesses and hope we get it right. As far as the keywords and the content is concerned, I have had some success, especially with one keyword that I have picked and worked on pretty hard. I am not sure if that sort of stuff is secret or not, so I will say, the word/ words  in question gets over 125,000 hits a month on the engines and I have managed to get to the number one spot for the last few weeks. Its a start.

Internet Home Business success is based on a lot of things, one of them is getting traffic to our sites. There are a lot of scammers and crooks out there promising you traffic through a variety of ways. If they could actually provide that traffic, they would be billionaires from all the customers they would be getting. There is just not  an easy way to get traffic, if there was, however had it, would certainly not tell your or I. I you want to be a successful Internet Home Business owner, you and I are going to have to do it the hard way, through hard work and dedication.

My Internet Home Business is SLOWLY taking off, and I believe I am doing it the right way, from the ground up and from a solid base. That base includes good original content plus paying attention to what the people who come to my site want, as well as a careful eye  on my keywords and the engines. More on this tomorrow, have a great day.

Internet Home Business Owner Lee’s Question, Continuation

March 14th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Internet Home Business

This is a continuation from yesterdays post, answering Internet Home Business owners Lee’s post about my keywords, some of them at number 1 spot on the search engines, how much money am I making, having original content and still not making money.

We all own an Internet Home Business, and we all have the same problems, we need traffic. One of the ways to get that traffic is to have original content on our web sites, get a higher ranking for our keywords, move up on the search engines pages and then get that elusive traffic. That is how the theory goes, this is my experience with that theory.

1. I made a really huge mistake when I started with my first Internet Home Business, believe it or not, I did not spend any time on my keywords, zero time. It’s hard to imagine now, a year  latter that I could be so stupid, but there it is. If nothing else, please DO NOT make the same mistake that I did, it was very costly. As far as the search engines were concerned, I did not exist for almost the first year I was suppose to be in business, trying to grow my Internet Home Business. To make matters worse, I have about 15 sites, some of them bought, yes, made the same mistake on all of them!

2. In my meager defense, I did spend that first year on producing a large quantity of original content, all of it keyword void, but still original content. In the long run, that content has and will benefit me and my sites, so that was not a total waste of time. This is Lee’s point, you can have original content on your site, and still not make money, very true indeed. As I learned, original content with no keywords is a waste of time, as far as the search engines are concerned.

3. Starting an Internet Home Business is a very time consuming process, especially when you factor in the time to build a new web site if that is where you are at. One of your key priorities at the beginning is spending the time required to research and pick your keywords, at the very beginning of that process. You should actually do it before anything gets started to be on the safe side. This is one area you should spend a few dollars, get some expert advice, make sure you do it right. On the other side of the coin, there is a ton of really good free tolls and aids on the Internet on this topic, with a little time and effort, you can get on board with this yourself.

4. Once you have your keywords, you can start to create everything for your Internet Home Business, web site , content, articles, advertising, blog, what ever you are going to do to get your name and brand out there, you can do properly now. In one sentence, what your keywords do for you is to give the search engines a way to find you, and then tell other people where to find you as well. Every time you do something in conjunction with your business, you will be creating a trail for the search engines to find you. The more trails, the more traffic. Please chip in with your definition of the relationship between us and the search engines.

5. A point I should make here, there is a good connection between original content, the search engines and frequency. A number of the search engines have gone on record as saying that if you have a regular stream of original content, you are more likely to have the search engines come on to your site to index it, on the same regular basis. Once again, having good original content is a waste, as far as the search engines are concerned, if they do not know it exists as well.

We have to remember that the SE’s are in business, just like us, their business is to give the best possible search results top their customers. The way they do that is to have the best, up to date, original content to offer to their customers, hopefully our future customers. If you are a supplier of original content, on a regular basis, the SE’s will like you, and come around to index you more often, than someone who may have content every 6 months. The SE’s go where there is material that will help them give their customers the best results.

Make your Internet Home Business a place that the search engines like to go for there fresh current consistent original content. That is the way to build a real business, that will be sustainable and profitable in the long run.   More tomorrow, have a great day.

Reply to Internet Home Business owner Lee on Original Content Post

March 13th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Internet Home Business

Hi,

I’m interested to know how much you are making (roughly), if some of your keywords are in #1 position as you are mentioned.

People keep come back to your blog by read all you GREAT articles everday, but it doesn’t means they will join any of your offer or buy any of your products, then at the end of the day you may still get ZERO income.

Original CONTENTS doesn’t always means $$$, if you can’t direct them into your buyers or subscribers.

After period of time, you don’t see any $$$ in your pocket and you will be burned out for writing everday for nothing, unless you are not looking for $$$, just enjoy writing itself.

Hello Lee, Thanks for the above comment. You raised some great points for the rest of us out here that own an Internet Home Business and are trying to make some money. The Internet Home Business you are referring to is this one, www.learn2earn2.com. Lets go through your post point by point. I am going to use this as a learning experience for myself, the points that I put out there will be answers as well as posing some questions, feel free to comment back and answer them for me.

First, ” how much money am I making for some of my key words that are number 1 in some search engines ” the answer is a very quick and emphatic ZERO !! Yes, nothing, I make not a cent from this site, this blog. My history for this site is, I bought it in mid December of last year, that’s 3 months ago. The previous owner, a person lacking any morals , scruples or decency, claimed the site was making between 250.00 to 500.00 a month, since taking the site over, have not made a red cent. However, along with the purchase, I did have some keywords on the search engines already started.

The keywords, as I am learning quickly are vital to the success of any Internet Home Business. No keywords, no page rank, no traffic. One of my goals when I bought this site, was to of course to make some money, but past that, I wanted to build the traffic and use some that traffic to send to another two sites that I own. www.powertimemanagementsystems.com and www.sitebizz.com My ” master plan ” was to take existing traffic from one site and move it around to the others and hopefully create some sales. That plan has taken a few hits. Time, is always an initial, even for some one who has made his living over the last 30 plus years dealing with it. I have taken some, time, pardon the pun, and re evaluated what I want to do with the number of sites that I have. In total, I have about 15 sites, I needed to chop that number down and focus on getting a few started properly, then move on. As the owner of an Internet Home Business, I need to focus on a smaller number of sites, and make them profitable, before I move on to others.

I have been sorting through them, and I believe I now have a manageable number to work with, 2 !! I am working on just this site, www.learn2earn2.com and www.powertimemanagementsystems.com. A big part of my plan is original content and working on my keywords. For the original content part, I am using my blogs. I hope that is a solid plan, any gaps in it, please let me know. If you own an Internet Home Business, I would like to hear how you are trying to build your business, any input would be appreciated.  I am using my strengths, and luckily for me, content is suppose to be king, and I have the ability to put out content. My goal is to put a post on my two blogs, on a daily basis. After a rocky start, I have a routine in place and I have been able to have 75 posts on this blog over the last 2 months and a bit, on target.

I realize we have two masters, dealing and working with our potential customers, and then the other master, the one that unless we please and make happy, we are sunk, the search engines. My blog is for both, my potential customers, and the search engines. Owning an Internet Home Business means that we have to please both our customers and the search engines to be successful, not an easy task at times. I will continue this post tomorrow. Have a great day.

If You Own an Internet Home Business and You Want to Grow, Build a relationship With the Search Engines

March 12th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Internet Home Business

You want to grow your Internet Home Business for the long haul and the way to do that is with your own information. There is  a great deal of information out there on ways to grow our sites, you have to be careful who you listen to and then what they tell you. I was, am a newbie when it comes to the specifics of building my own personal Internet Home Business, but I have the advantage of 30 plus years in the bricks and motor world which is helping me stay afloat. I am absolutely astounded  at the sheer volume of the scammers out there, in particular, the ones dealing with web site building, marketing and traffic driving ideas. They prey on the new people into the industry, and I am not sure why that is a surprise to me.

First and foremost, we, you, have to be aware of the relationship between building our own little Internet Home Business and the search engines. Without the search engines, we would be out in the cold. The traffic that we hope eventually will come to our sites, most of it will probably come from the search engines. This topic is a large one and I will only deal with it here in a basic fashion, will post on it as time goes on. For now, lets deal with the probability that almost all of your potential traffic will come from the search engines.

Based on this assumption, if you  want your Internet Home  Business to grow, you are going to have to cozy up to the search engines. Unless you get familiar with what it takes to build your business along the lines that meet with the search engines approval, you will find yourself on the outside, looking in. What I mean by that is this, if you are not developing your site along the guidelines that the search engines like, they will not know you exist and because of this fact, will not send you any traffic. We all know that no traffic, no Internet Home Business.

Lets explore the relationship we need to have , if we want to succeed, and that means, having a relationship with the search engines. First and foremost, the Internet is not what it was meant to be, the Internet is no longer free, no longer for everyone and it is certainly not a care free idyllic meeting place for the peoples of the world. It should have not surprised anyone that the Internet has been hijacked, taken over by big business, by marketers and advertisers, scammers and crooks, and yes, little guys like me and you.

Big bucks, big bucks is what has this element crawling out of the wood work every time. When ever something has the allure of big bucks, it seems to being out the worst in society, and the Internet has certainly done that in spades. Lets look at one small simple example. If you own an Internet Home Business, you need traffic to survive, traffic is our life line, no traffic, no business. On top of our desperate need for traffic is the double whammy that getting traffic is very difficult to get, difficult, time consuming and a very frustrating process to boot.

When you add that when someone first turns their web site live, its like opening the doors to a street side store, the anticipation, the adrenalin, you want the people, the traffic to just flood in. The reality of an Internet Home Business web site is this, when you turn your web site live, there is no rush, there is not crowd, there is absolutely nothing. Not only is there nothing, there can and will be nothing for some time, perhaps for ever. The estimate is that more than 95% of the web sites that open each year, fail within the first year. The reason, no traffic.

It is in this void that the traffic vultures appear. the ads are every where, for $ 19.95, they will send 20,000 visitors to your site, today !! For someone who has been sitting at their computer for months waiting for the traffic to appear, they will grasp at any straw, even a straw offered by these scamers. Needless to say, this kind of offer is just a scam to get your money, there will be no traffic, at least not human traffic, you are just throwing your money down the drain. We all all tried it at one time or another, even I succumbed. If by some miracle YOU have tried one of these sites and actually got some real people traffic, let me know about it and I will check it out and if it works, will happily put the link up on my sites.

Will continue this tomorrow. Any ideas on how to get traffic, as well as good SEO tips, drop me a comment.   Have a great day.
