It’s February 1St, How are Those New Years Resolutions Comming?
Internet Home Businesses are tricky to operate, even in the best of times. We all want to do well and I am sure, all or most of us made a series of New years resolutions too improve ourselves as well as our Internet Home Businesses around January 1st. I know I did. I am doing an assessment today on how well I am doing. I will go through my assessmentt here today, as a guide for you, as well as a real exercise for myself.
1. I need to get my web sites better ranked on the search engines, along with the rest of the world:) My goal was to post on my 3 blogs first thing in the morning. These are my power hours, www.powertimesystem.com, so I reserved this time slot for what was my number one A Priority. So far, I am reasonably happy with my performance. Out of a 10, I would give myself a 7. On a few of the days, there were some events that I allowed to move me off my Agenda, I allowed these events to push me off doing what I had set up and I spent that time on other activities. These other activities were urgent, but not as important as what I had originally scheduled for that time frame. Always remember, urgent bad, important good.
2. I made what I consider a rookie mistake. Getting pushed off driving your own Agenda is a cardinal sin, one that is devastating to your over all success. Many things that are wrapped up in having a successful day, and life, is wrapped up in having and driving your own Agenda. You may ask yourself this question, how does the guy who wrote the book, myself, allow himself to get pushed off HIS OWN AGENDA, if its so important? A good as well embarrassing question. Here in lies the reason Proper Time Management is not a Destination, but a Journey. It is not as much as Proper Time Management, but proper self management.
3. Knowing the right way is not the same as having the ability to apply what you know on a daily regular basis. I may have a leg up on some of you because I certainly know what I should do each day, but there is the application of that knowledge that holds the real value. I guess the simple reason and explanation is that I am human with all the faults and foibles that come with that.
4. This is why New Years Resolutions are pretty well a wasted exercise if you do not incorporate them into your daily regime. Sitting down one day a year and making some promises too yourself and that is the extent of it, is a waste of effort and time. Take my goal, one of many, to post on all 3 blogs on a daily basis. In order to turn this wish, that is basically what a resolution or goal is, a wish, I took that wish and Time Activated it into my Proper Time Management Day Planner. That means, there is a specific time slot in my daily schedule that says between 6:00 in the morning and 9:00, I will do nothing in that time slot but work on the 3 posts in my blogs.
5. That may not seem like much, but out of 100 people, less than 5 will get to that step. Its part of a larger process, but having a Day Planner, having an Agenda, having Priorities, and Time Activating those Priorities in your Day Planner, puts you in the 5 % of the people who have a chance to make things happen. The days that I follow my own processes, are the days that I do my best work, period. If it was easy, we all would be successful, happy and content. There is a reason there are gaps in our lives and one of the reasons is that its damn hard to do the things we want to do on a regular basis.
One quick point. My News Years resolutions are my daily Priorities. You have to integrate what you want to do into what you actually do on a daily basis, if you do not, they will just rot on some list or spread sheet you have on your computer. Unless your goals and resolutions see the light of day, daily, they have no chance of being achieved.
Have agreat day,
